The faience industry flourished in Syria, especially in Raqqa, from the early sixteenth century and developed into a highly refined craft. Syrian faience was widely used in Damascene mosques and traditional homes during the Ottoman period.

Story
How it is made:
Faience is made of white sand and gypsum, and they are put together and empty into moulds in the desired shape.
The maker writes or draws on faience, various poems or quotes and inscriptions from fixed materials.
The glass powder is spread over it after writing and painting or coated with a slimy liquid.
Then the pieces roasted in a furnace prepared for that. Making faience takes a long time, mostly when made by hand, as each piece need a long time. And in winter it is difficult to work in this craft because it takes longer to dry the pieces and moulds.Faience, Porcelain and Ceramics.

This product is handmade by traditional Syrian. Each item is a piece of art, stylish and modern but timelessly infused with the historical spirit of the Middle East.
As with any genuinely handmade product, there are a few flaws and imperfections.
- Due to the difference between different monitors, the actual colour of the item might be slightly different from the colour showed in the pictures.
- Please allow a slight size difference due to handmade.
- It is best to wash it manually NOT in dishwasher.
