The faience industry flourished in Syria, especially in the province of Raqqa at the beginning of the sixteenth century, and then grew up until it reached a great degree of creativity. The flourishing of faience industry in Syria goes back to the Turkish Ottoman periods. The faience was used extensively in Damascene mosques and some old homes.
